Dear Valued Patient,
We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding our relationship with Aetna. For more than two years, our practice has been actively engaged in negotiations with Aetna to update our reimbursement rates, which have not been meaningfully adjusted in over a decade. Despite our efforts to reach a fair and sustainable agreement, these negotiations have not resulted in terms that reflect the quality of care we provide and the significant cost savings we deliver to Aetna and its members.
As a result, our current contract with Aetna is scheduled to terminate effective February 1, 2026. While we remain committed to working toward a resolution, we believe it is important to keep you informed so you can plan accordingly.
What this means for you:
- Until February 1, 2026, we will continue to be an in-network provider for Aetna.
- After that date, unless an agreement is reached, our practice will be considered out-of-network for Aetna plans.
- If you are 24+ weeks pregnant as of February 1, 2026, or undergoing treatment for a serious condition, you may qualify for continuity-of-care provisions that allow you to continue care with us for a limited time after termination, up to and including post-partum care.
- You may also choose to continue care on an out-of-network self-pay basis.
How you can help:
We value our long-standing relationship with Aetna and hope to remain in-network for your convenience and continuity of care. If you would like to advocate for our continued participation, please contact Aetna’s Member Services at:
- Aetna Member Services: 1-800-872-3862 or utilize the phone number on the back of your membership card. Please provide our Tax ID number of 46-1132497 if requested for reference purposes.
- You can also log into your Aetna member portal and submit feedback regarding the importance of keeping Austin Area OBGYN in-network.
Your voice matters. Let Aetna know that maintaining access to our physicians is important to you and your family.
We will keep you updated on any changes and remain committed to providing the highest level of care. If you have questions about your coverage or need assistance, please call our office at 512-652-7002.
Thank you for trusting us with your care.
Sincerely,
Austin Area OBGYN Physicians
